Russian VR Seasons
At 70 Cannes Film Festival
For the first time ever Russian VR films were presented at Cannes.
The programme of Russian short VR films "Russian VR Seasons" ("Les VR Saisons Russes") was held at the 70th International Cannes Film Festival. The demonstration was held on the May 21st at the NEXT Innovations Hub at Marche du Film. Films from Russian and other programmes were presented at the specially equipped theater, which allowed the audience to enjoy simultaneous watching in over 30 Gear VR helmets.
The VR Section was introduced in Cannes in 2016, as a part of the NEXT programme. In 2017 the NEXT Innovation Hub included four sections: VR cinema, VR library, discussion and exhibition areas.
"Russian VR Seasons" in Cannes includes six independent Russian VR movies
All movies were demonstrated on the 21st of May at VR theatre of the NEXT programme and from 17-21of May at the VR library, which was available for all accredited participants of the cinema market.

The first part of the immersive trilogy "Cultural revolution" focuses on the year of 1912. Through the history of one painting, the VR-movie tells about the highlights of that year, which have taken place on the cultural scene of the Russian Empire. Thanks to new technologies in cinema production, a viewer gets an opportunity to find himself in retro footage of the pre-revolutionary Russia and then to immerse into the most prominent picture of Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin "Bathing of a red horse".
